Renita Barksdale brings a deep passion for literacy, community outreach, and equitable access to information to her role as Director of the Laurens County Public Library System. With 18 years of experience, she has worked to address critical community needs in workforce development, school readiness, health disparities, resource access, and digital literacy.
Throughout her career, Renita has helped transform library operations and strengthen community engagement across Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. She is committed to positioning the library as a welcoming community hub where residents of all ages can connect with resources, build skills, and access opportunities that support their overall well-being.
Renita believes strong communities are built through strong relationships. Her work reflects a commitment to collaboration, accessibility, and meeting people where they are. With her passion for making information and resources more accessible, she is excited to support the mission of THRIVE Laurens County and help the organization continue to grow, serve, and thrive.
